A Few Words About Me
ALEX LIGAS SWEARS UNDER OATH. THERE WAS NOTHING ILLEGAL ABOUT THAT WHALE HUNT
….AND MORE OF LIFE’S GREAT LESSONS FROM A TRAVELING. ACCOUNTANT AND LECTURER…. Unchanged: ….AND MORE OF LIFE’S GREAT LESSONS FROM A TRAVELING ACCOUNTANT AND LECTURER….
ALEX LIGAS SWEARS UNDER OATH That’s a crazy way for an accountant to start an introduction. Isn’t it? You probably have tons of resumes. Cover letters, letters of recommendations, credentials….ad nauseam. So here’s one introduction written with you in mind. At very least you will get a kick out of this letter.
Confessions of a Coffee Lover
#1: Coffee Lover
Seriously, how did everyone do it back in the day? They use to work six twelve hour days. In a hot little factory day in and day out! Try managing that bunch. No espresso, over worked, under paid. No wonder accountants use to be boring. Isn’t everyone sluggish after a 12 hour workday. Working for two fortune 500 companies?
#2: Get Out And Enjoy Life
Everyone needs something relaxing to do. When you spend your week crunching numbers after numbers. You just need to wind down. It’s hard to beat the water streaming by and the fresh air in your face. So I have kayaked many rivers and beaches. From St. Pete. Beach to Manley Beach.
#3: Strength Through Endurance
Bicycled 1,416 Miles From Maine, USA To Florida, USA
Again the wind in your face is a tough thing to beat. So Kittery, Maine to Avon Park, Florida is a grueling 1,416 miles. That’s the highest north state all the way to the bottom of the South. Let me tell you the secret to success. You need to have relentless focused action….In everything you do.
#4: Values Differences
Travelling Country To Country, You Have To Stop And Smell The Roses (80 countries and 5 continents)
Life is worth living. Travelling makes you realize how important it is to share your experiences. When you see everything first hand you can pull from all walks of life to relate to the topic at hand.
For an educator and accountant (BA, St. Leo University-Accounting. You know the 5 year degree). Learning doesn’t stop when you graduate….get all your credentials. That’s when you can take off. Get out there and enjoy life. You really start to learn afterschool and it continues..
#6: Hypocrites Are Everywhere, Don’t Be One
There is no gray line on this one. You have to lead by example. When you practice what you preach your peers. Respect you for who you are and, as an educator and accountant. your pupils and customers cling to your every word.
#7: Embrace Philanthropy
Even if all you can give back is a hand when someone drops their groceries. Your life is better, their life is better, and society can pay it forward. And it’s all the individuals that give society a face. Save face.
#8: Whale Hunting In Barrow, Alaska
Unchanged: How did I do it legally? You know it’s illegal everywhere except Alaska and Japan. And you have to be from an Eskimo tribe. And still, you have to be doing it for spiritual reasons. I’m not Japanese or Eskimo, so how did I get to do it? Well, actually I didn’t do anything. I was part of the hunt though….the observing part. The only legal way for the rest of us.
